A preview of LEGO in 2025 and a look at the rumor that we'll be getting the first LEGO Star Trek set
[00:00:00] This is the Battlegorilla LEGO Podcast, Episode 43, LEGO 2025 Unveiled, Plus, Will Star Trek Join the LEGO Universe?
[00:00:13] The secret title of today's episode is A Last-Minute Look at the LEGO Brick Road Ahead.
[00:00:23] I hadn't planned on doing a preview episode about 2025 until the last moment.
[00:00:31] Then, we got a rumor that I wanted to talk about, and as I started scripting that out, I realized that I wanted to discuss more than just that one set.
[00:00:43] And so, here I am doing a preview episode about 2025.
[00:00:51] The disclaimer.
[00:00:52] LEGO is a trademark of the LEGO Group of Companies, which does not sponsor, authorize, or endorse this podcast.
[00:01:01] Are you ready to listen to the world's number one LEGO podcast, recorded in my apartment?
[00:01:17] Podcasting is awesome.
[00:01:21] It's about the LEGO fan scene.
[00:01:23] Podcasting is awesome.
[00:01:27] Hey, check out this audio stream.
[00:01:29] Welcome to the Battlegorilla LEGO Podcast.
[00:01:39] My name is Mike Snethen.
[00:01:40] I'm your host.
[00:01:41] Let's get right into it.
[00:01:43] Here's what we know about LEGO's 2025 offerings thus far.
[00:01:49] We are getting a number of new licensed IPs.
[00:01:53] The ones we know of being How to Train Your Dragon, One Piece, and Bluey.
[00:02:03] There will be a second Horizon Zero Dawn set coming in March.
[00:02:10] LEGO's licensing agreement with Formula One Racing is apparently going to be a wandering sub-theme like last year's Space was,
[00:02:20] with Formula One sets occurring in a number of various LEGO themes,
[00:02:24] starting with the obvious Speed Champions,
[00:02:28] but also appearing in City, Technic, Icons, and Duplo, possibly others as well.
[00:02:37] Also, in a very weird turn of events, LEGO is heavily rumored to be dedicating
[00:02:44] one of their three annual collectible minifigure assortments to Formula One,
[00:02:51] giving us not actual minifigures in that series,
[00:02:56] but buildable Formula One race cars that will have helmeted minifigure heads visible in the driver's seat.
[00:03:05] Looking at the promotional images for some of LEGO's January 1st releases,
[00:03:12] the Space sub-theme branding can be seen on some of the boxes.
[00:03:16] So, apparently, LEGO isn't finished with their space revival just yet.
[00:03:22] I'd heard some speculation that the Formula One wandering sub-theme was replacing space.
[00:03:30] Apparently, not the case.
[00:03:33] In addition to continuing their new space sub-theme,
[00:03:37] LEGO is also taking a nostalgic look back at the classic space era
[00:03:42] and giving us an upscaled and updated version of the Blacktron Renegade from 1987.
[00:03:49] The Simpsons return to LEGO with a Krusty Burger set later on in the year.
[00:03:56] The insanely popular LEGO Icons botanical sets are now being reorganized as their own theme
[00:04:04] out from under the Icons umbrella, called simply botanicals.
[00:04:10] Super Mario will be giving us a Mario Kart sub-theme.
[00:04:16] We are getting a large Lord of the Rings set for a third year in a row.
[00:04:21] This time, it's Bag End, home to Bilbo Baggins, then Frodo Baggins, and eventually Samwise Gamgee.
[00:04:31] The Transformer Autobots Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, from 2022 and 2024 respectively,
[00:04:38] will now have an enemy on the shelves,
[00:04:40] as Decepticon Soundwave becomes the third Transformer to be realized as an official LEGO set.
[00:04:47] This year, Star Wars will be giving us a UCS Death Star,
[00:04:55] reportedly LEGO's first $1,000 MSRP set.
[00:05:03] I'm planning to buy three or four of those.
[00:05:08] Way back in the second episode of this podcast,
[00:05:11] I raved and gushed about LEGO's Dreams line.
[00:05:15] And since then, I don't think I've said a single word about it.
[00:05:22] Everything that I said in my Dreams episode still holds true,
[00:05:27] and I still believe that Dreams is probably LEGO's most important theme at the moment.
[00:05:34] The animated series now has two seasons under its belt,
[00:05:37] and of those 40 episodes, I've seen about 12.
[00:05:45] It's not bad, I just don't think I'm its target audience.
[00:05:51] It doesn't hold my interest.
[00:05:54] My goal, my dream, so to speak,
[00:05:59] was to collect the entire first wave of sets,
[00:06:02] and then pick up select sets from subsequent waves.
[00:06:08] But most of the first wave has now retired,
[00:06:10] and I'm still three sets short of completion.
[00:06:14] The Dream Village set,
[00:06:16] Mr. Oz's Space Bus,
[00:06:19] and, of course,
[00:06:21] the biggest, most expensive set of the first wave,
[00:06:24] the Nightmare Shark Ship.
[00:06:28] When the second wave was announced,
[00:06:30] I paid attention to all the sets,
[00:06:32] if for no other reason than to know what was all out there.
[00:06:37] But since then,
[00:06:39] every time we get new Dreams sets announced,
[00:06:42] I take a look at them,
[00:06:44] and my first thought is,
[00:06:46] aren't these just the same sets we've been getting?
[00:06:52] They aren't.
[00:06:53] But at a glance,
[00:06:55] they might as well be.
[00:06:57] That trend continues into 2025.
[00:07:02] A green and white Z-Blob mech for Mateo,
[00:07:05] a gigantic Bunchu the Bunny set with Izzy,
[00:07:09] some kind of robotic or vehicular animal for Cooper,
[00:07:13] a primarily green ground vehicle for Mateo.
[00:07:18] It feels like I've seen this all before.
[00:07:24] And for a theme that's focused on creativity,
[00:07:27] that doesn't really seem like the way it should be.
[00:07:32] Anyway, superhero time.
[00:07:37] I'll do DC Comics first.
[00:07:40] One of the sets releasing on January 1st
[00:07:43] will be a Superman mech for $14.99 USD.
[00:07:48] In addition to the mech,
[00:07:50] the set also comes with a Superman minifigure to pilot it
[00:07:54] and a Lex Luthor figure.
[00:07:57] Why it's a Superman mech fighting Luthor
[00:08:00] and not a Lex Luthor mech fighting Superman
[00:08:03] is a legitimate question.
[00:08:07] A question that everybody seems to be asking,
[00:08:11] but that nobody has a good answer for.
[00:08:14] My only thought here is that
[00:08:16] you couldn't really put the Superman emblem
[00:08:19] on a Luthor mech,
[00:08:21] and the one adorning the Superman mech
[00:08:23] is a really cool-looking piece.
[00:08:27] I've heard some of the AFOLs in the Lego fan media
[00:08:30] stressing how important it is
[00:08:32] that this set rack up some impressive sales numbers.
[00:08:36] And I'm now adding my voice to theirs.
[00:08:39] This is the first Lego DC set
[00:08:42] that doesn't focus exclusively on Batman
[00:08:45] and Batman characters
[00:08:47] since the Wonder Woman vs. Cheetah set
[00:08:50] back in 2020.
[00:08:53] Lego needs to know
[00:08:54] that the toy-buying public
[00:08:56] will spend their money
[00:08:58] on non-Batman DC Comics Lego sets.
[00:09:02] Otherwise, we're going to have nothing but
[00:09:05] Batman, Batman, Batman
[00:09:07] from here on out.
[00:09:08] And we really need to fill out the ranks
[00:09:11] of our DC superhero
[00:09:12] and supervillain minifigure collections.
[00:09:17] Unfortunately,
[00:09:18] it looks like that one Superman mech
[00:09:20] is going to be the only
[00:09:22] non-Batman DC set
[00:09:24] that Lego has for us this year.
[00:09:27] This is particularly disturbing news
[00:09:29] when you realize that
[00:09:31] we get James Gunn's Superman movie in July.
[00:09:35] Big Superman movie.
[00:09:37] No corresponding Lego movie tie-in sets.
[00:09:41] Lego, what are you doing?
[00:09:45] Lego's big DC set of the year
[00:09:48] looks to be the $400 Arkham Asylum set
[00:09:52] rumored to hit this summer.
[00:09:54] No official word yet
[00:09:55] on which version of the infamous facility
[00:09:58] it's going to be.
[00:10:00] Also, no official word
[00:10:01] on whether or not this is finally
[00:10:03] going to be the set
[00:10:04] that gives us a minifigure
[00:10:06] of Batman villain the Mad Hatter.
[00:10:10] Over on the Marvel end
[00:10:12] of Lego's superhero theme,
[00:10:14] we're finally getting some love
[00:10:15] for Sony's animated Spider-Verse films
[00:10:18] with at least one set in January
[00:10:21] and a heavily rumored
[00:10:22] collectible minifigure series
[00:10:24] in September.
[00:10:26] We will also be getting
[00:10:27] a single movie tie-in set
[00:10:29] for the Fantastic Four film
[00:10:31] with a set entitled
[00:10:32] Galactus vs. the Fantastic Four.
[00:10:36] We've been told that it will have
[00:10:38] all four team members
[00:10:39] with the thing being a minifigure
[00:10:42] rather than a big fig,
[00:10:44] which most people seem to be
[00:10:46] disappointed about,
[00:10:47] but about which I am overjoyed.
[00:10:50] My concern is that it's a $60 set
[00:10:55] said to have 427 pieces,
[00:10:58] which makes me worry about both the size
[00:11:01] and complexity of the Galactus
[00:11:04] included in the set.
[00:11:06] But we'll see.
[00:11:09] Also, as of 2025,
[00:11:12] there will no longer be
[00:11:13] a Marvel Advent calendar.
[00:11:16] But Marvel's loss
[00:11:18] is apparently Minecraft's gain
[00:11:19] as they will be taking over
[00:11:21] that slot.
[00:11:22] We're also getting a $100 set
[00:11:26] that is a buildable version
[00:11:28] of the Marvel logo,
[00:11:30] along with a handful of minifigures.
[00:11:33] I'm very interested to see
[00:11:35] how this is received.
[00:11:37] It's not something that I want,
[00:11:39] but if it sells well,
[00:11:41] there'll be more of that kind of thing.
[00:11:44] It's a curious direction
[00:11:46] for Lego to go in.
[00:11:50] Most of the Lego stuff
[00:11:52] that I talk about here in the podcast
[00:11:53] is the Lego stuff
[00:11:55] that specifically interests me,
[00:11:58] which means that I haven't talked
[00:12:00] about everything coming out
[00:12:01] that's been announced.
[00:12:03] Obviously, we'll be getting more sets
[00:12:06] for City, Classic,
[00:12:08] Creator, Duplo, and Technic.
[00:12:12] Lego Ideas is giving us
[00:12:14] the Cullen House,
[00:12:15] which random pre-teen girls
[00:12:18] and for me is from
[00:12:19] the Twilight franchise.
[00:12:21] We get some more Brickheads.
[00:12:24] We get some sets for Animal Crossing,
[00:12:27] Disney, Friends,
[00:12:29] Harry Potter, Minecraft,
[00:12:31] Ninjago,
[00:12:33] Sonic the Hedgehog,
[00:12:35] and probably some themes
[00:12:37] that I've missed.
[00:12:39] Okay.
[00:12:41] It's time to shift over
[00:12:43] from what's been officially announced
[00:12:46] to what's only recently been rumored.
[00:12:52] Late Christmas Eve,
[00:12:54] early Christmas morning,
[00:12:55] instead of watching the skies
[00:12:57] for signs of Santa,
[00:12:58] I was watching the internet,
[00:13:01] and I saw a rumor
[00:13:02] about two Lego sets
[00:13:04] that we'd be getting
[00:13:05] in 2025.
[00:13:07] One of these
[00:13:08] is a Pirates of the Caribbean
[00:13:10] The Black Pearl set,
[00:13:13] which is fine.
[00:13:15] If true,
[00:13:16] it will be the second
[00:13:17] Black Pearl
[00:13:18] we'll have gotten from Lego,
[00:13:19] but the first one
[00:13:20] in quite a while.
[00:13:23] It's the other rumor
[00:13:25] that made me sit up
[00:13:26] and take notice.
[00:13:26] And that's the rumor
[00:13:29] that in 2025,
[00:13:31] we will be getting
[00:13:32] a Star Trek Lego set.
[00:13:38] This rumor specified
[00:13:39] that it would be a set
[00:13:41] in the Lego icons theme,
[00:13:43] so most likely
[00:13:44] an 18 plus sort of thing.
[00:13:48] On Christmas Day,
[00:13:50] this rumor was reported
[00:13:51] on TheBrickFan.com.
[00:13:53] By Monday,
[00:13:56] we had more information.
[00:13:58] Still no confirmation,
[00:14:00] but a much more
[00:14:01] detailed rumor.
[00:14:03] German leaker
[00:14:05] Max Bout
[00:14:06] released a YouTube video
[00:14:08] that contained
[00:14:09] the following information.
[00:14:12] The Star Trek set
[00:14:13] being in the Lego icons theme
[00:14:16] was repeated.
[00:14:17] It will be set number
[00:14:21] 10356.
[00:14:22] Estimated piece count
[00:14:25] of 3,600
[00:14:27] with a release date
[00:14:30] of Black Friday 2025.
[00:14:34] So what exactly
[00:14:36] is this set rumored to be?
[00:14:39] The USS Enterprise
[00:14:41] NCC-1701-D,
[00:14:46] the protagonist ship
[00:14:47] of Star Trek
[00:14:49] The Next Generation.
[00:14:50] And it will come
[00:14:55] with nine minifigures.
[00:14:57] Captain Jean-Luc Picard,
[00:14:59] William Riker,
[00:15:01] Worf,
[00:15:03] Geordi LaForge,
[00:15:05] Data,
[00:15:06] Dr. Beverly Crusher,
[00:15:08] Wesley Crusher,
[00:15:10] Deanna Troi,
[00:15:11] and Guinan.
[00:15:14] Also said to be included
[00:15:15] is Data's cat, Spot.
[00:15:20] Now, I know that some of you
[00:15:22] out there might be saying,
[00:15:24] Hey,
[00:15:25] wait a minute,
[00:15:26] Mr. Podcaster.
[00:15:29] You've talked about
[00:15:30] Lego Star Trek
[00:15:31] before on your show.
[00:15:32] And you said
[00:15:34] that Lego
[00:15:35] would never
[00:15:36] do a Star Trek set
[00:15:38] because of a
[00:15:39] no-compete clause
[00:15:40] in Lego's contract
[00:15:41] with the Star Wars license.
[00:15:45] Okay,
[00:15:46] here are my current
[00:15:47] thoughts on that.
[00:15:48] First of all,
[00:15:50] without an official
[00:15:51] announcement,
[00:15:53] all this is
[00:15:54] is a rumor.
[00:15:55] It could turn out
[00:15:56] to be nothing.
[00:15:59] Second,
[00:16:01] time passes
[00:16:02] and things change.
[00:16:05] Maybe Lego
[00:16:07] and Disney
[00:16:07] came to some
[00:16:08] sort of agreement
[00:16:09] that allows Lego
[00:16:10] to now do this.
[00:16:12] Who knows?
[00:16:14] But third,
[00:16:15] third,
[00:16:16] and the phrase
[00:16:17] third times a charm
[00:16:18] is almost a mantra
[00:16:20] here behind the scenes
[00:16:21] at the podcast
[00:16:22] after I fumble a line
[00:16:23] twice during recording.
[00:16:26] It's just possible
[00:16:28] that the no-compete clause
[00:16:30] keeps Lego
[00:16:31] from doing
[00:16:31] a Star Trek
[00:16:32] theme
[00:16:33] and what is being
[00:16:35] discussed
[00:16:35] by the leakers now
[00:16:37] is a single
[00:16:38] Star Trek
[00:16:39] set.
[00:16:41] Big difference?
[00:16:42] I don't know.
[00:16:45] A difference?
[00:16:48] Lego's
[00:16:49] Icons line,
[00:16:50] which the company
[00:16:51] started in the year
[00:16:52] 2020,
[00:16:53] is where the majority
[00:16:55] of Lego's
[00:16:56] 18 plus sets
[00:16:57] live.
[00:16:59] The ones that
[00:17:00] aren't already
[00:17:01] ensconced under
[00:17:02] another theme umbrella
[00:17:03] like Star Wars
[00:17:04] or Marvel
[00:17:05] for the UCS
[00:17:06] ships
[00:17:06] or the Marvel
[00:17:07] modulars.
[00:17:09] It's where
[00:17:10] the Botanicals
[00:17:11] line has been
[00:17:11] up until 2025.
[00:17:14] It's been
[00:17:14] the new home
[00:17:15] of the Modulars
[00:17:16] line
[00:17:16] and the Winter
[00:17:17] Village collection
[00:17:18] for the past
[00:17:18] few years,
[00:17:19] having moved
[00:17:20] there from
[00:17:21] Creator Expert.
[00:17:23] But it's also
[00:17:24] given us a couple
[00:17:25] of one-shot
[00:17:26] set licenses.
[00:17:28] The large
[00:17:29] Ecto-1
[00:17:30] and Back to the
[00:17:31] Future cars,
[00:17:32] the Queer Eye
[00:17:33] loft,
[00:17:34] the Friends
[00:17:35] Apartments,
[00:17:37] the recent
[00:17:37] Dune
[00:17:38] Ornithopter
[00:17:39] set,
[00:17:41] and
[00:17:42] Icons
[00:17:42] has given us
[00:17:43] some
[00:17:43] one set
[00:17:45] a year
[00:17:45] or one set
[00:17:47] every couple
[00:17:47] of years
[00:17:48] licenses,
[00:17:49] Rivendell
[00:17:50] and Baradur
[00:17:51] from Lord
[00:17:53] of the Rings,
[00:17:54] and Optimus
[00:17:55] Prime and
[00:17:55] Bumblebee
[00:17:56] from Transformers.
[00:17:58] So the
[00:17:59] thought of
[00:17:59] Lego doing
[00:18:00] the massive
[00:18:01] and lucrative
[00:18:02] Star Wars
[00:18:02] theme
[00:18:03] alongside
[00:18:04] a single
[00:18:06] Star Trek
[00:18:07] set
[00:18:07] does sound
[00:18:08] plausible.
[00:18:10] I'd even
[00:18:11] believe
[00:18:12] one Star
[00:18:13] Trek set
[00:18:13] every year
[00:18:15] or two.
[00:18:17] it isn't
[00:18:18] going to
[00:18:19] be cheap.
[00:18:21] 18 plus
[00:18:22] 3,600 piece
[00:18:24] licensed
[00:18:25] set
[00:18:26] with nine
[00:18:27] minifigures
[00:18:28] in the
[00:18:29] Icons
[00:18:29] theme.
[00:18:31] Hmm.
[00:18:33] My guess
[00:18:34] is somewhere
[00:18:35] in the
[00:18:36] $350
[00:18:36] to $500
[00:18:38] range.
[00:18:41] Something
[00:18:42] that is
[00:18:42] either a
[00:18:43] huge coincidence
[00:18:44] or more
[00:18:45] supporting evidence,
[00:18:46] take your pick,
[00:18:48] is that the
[00:18:49] German toy
[00:18:50] company
[00:18:50] Blue Bricks
[00:18:51] had held
[00:18:53] the Star Trek
[00:18:53] license for
[00:18:54] building brick
[00:18:55] sets for a
[00:18:55] couple of
[00:18:56] years,
[00:18:56] but was
[00:18:57] recently unable
[00:18:58] to extend
[00:18:59] it for another
[00:19:00] year.
[00:19:01] Their license
[00:19:02] expires
[00:19:03] December
[00:19:04] 31st,
[00:19:06] 2024,
[00:19:06] 2024,
[00:19:07] and they
[00:19:08] have until
[00:19:09] June 30th,
[00:19:10] 2025,
[00:19:12] to finish
[00:19:13] selling off
[00:19:14] whatever back
[00:19:14] stock they
[00:19:15] have remaining.
[00:19:17] It's almost
[00:19:18] like Paramount
[00:19:19] or CBS
[00:19:21] or Viacom
[00:19:22] or whoever
[00:19:22] were planning
[00:19:24] to hand
[00:19:25] the license
[00:19:25] over to
[00:19:26] someone else
[00:19:27] in the
[00:19:27] second half
[00:19:28] of 2025.
[00:19:32] This rumor
[00:19:33] has the
[00:19:34] online Lego
[00:19:34] and Star Trek
[00:19:35] communities
[00:19:36] going nuts.
[00:19:39] Most of
[00:19:40] them see
[00:19:41] the three
[00:19:41] words
[00:19:42] Star Trek
[00:19:42] Lego
[00:19:43] and make
[00:19:44] up the
[00:19:45] rest of it
[00:19:45] in their
[00:19:46] heads,
[00:19:46] just assuming
[00:19:47] that it'll
[00:19:48] start out
[00:19:48] with a
[00:19:49] nine or
[00:19:49] ten set
[00:19:50] wave,
[00:19:50] with a
[00:19:51] new wave
[00:19:52] at least
[00:19:52] twice a
[00:19:52] year.
[00:19:54] Sorry,
[00:19:55] no,
[00:19:56] please read
[00:19:57] the actual
[00:19:57] post or
[00:19:58] article before
[00:19:59] wildly
[00:20:00] speculating,
[00:20:01] please.
[00:20:03] Okay,
[00:20:06] I'm tired
[00:20:06] of saying
[00:20:07] rumor every
[00:20:08] time I
[00:20:08] mention the
[00:20:08] set.
[00:20:09] I think
[00:20:10] that I've
[00:20:11] established
[00:20:11] that this
[00:20:12] is only a
[00:20:12] rumor and
[00:20:13] could be
[00:20:14] completely
[00:20:14] false.
[00:20:15] A
[00:20:16] miscommunication?
[00:20:17] A
[00:20:18] prank?
[00:20:18] Or a
[00:20:19] flat-out
[00:20:19] lie?
[00:20:20] As
[00:20:21] always,
[00:20:22] when dealing
[00:20:22] with Lego
[00:20:23] information that
[00:20:24] hasn't been
[00:20:25] officially released
[00:20:26] by the Lego
[00:20:27] group,
[00:20:28] take everything
[00:20:29] with that
[00:20:29] ubiquitous
[00:20:30] grain of
[00:20:31] salt.
[00:20:32] I will
[00:20:33] now continue
[00:20:34] the episode
[00:20:34] as if this
[00:20:36] Lego Star Trek
[00:20:37] set was
[00:20:38] actually going
[00:20:39] to happen.
[00:20:41] Getting the
[00:20:41] crew of the
[00:20:42] Enterprise D
[00:20:43] in minifigure
[00:20:44] form opens
[00:20:46] up a sort
[00:20:46] of Pandora's
[00:20:48] box.
[00:20:49] In the
[00:20:50] past,
[00:20:50] when I've
[00:20:51] asked some
[00:20:52] of the
[00:20:52] third-party
[00:20:53] minifigure
[00:20:53] accessory
[00:20:54] manufacturers
[00:20:55] why they
[00:20:56] haven't been
[00:20:56] making Star
[00:20:57] Trek stuff,
[00:20:58] I've been
[00:20:58] told that
[00:20:59] without an
[00:21:00] actual Lego
[00:21:01] Star Trek
[00:21:01] property,
[00:21:02] there's
[00:21:03] simply not
[00:21:03] enough call
[00:21:04] for it.
[00:21:06] Well,
[00:21:07] this would
[00:21:08] be an
[00:21:09] actual Lego
[00:21:11] Star Trek
[00:21:12] property.
[00:21:14] which means
[00:21:15] there should
[00:21:17] now be
[00:21:17] a call
[00:21:18] for it.
[00:21:20] I would
[00:21:21] hope that
[00:21:22] the minifigures
[00:21:23] in the set
[00:21:24] will come
[00:21:25] with things
[00:21:25] like phasers
[00:21:26] and tricorders,
[00:21:28] maybe a
[00:21:29] hypo spray
[00:21:30] or two,
[00:21:32] Riker's
[00:21:32] trombone,
[00:21:33] no,
[00:21:34] probably not
[00:21:34] Riker's
[00:21:35] trombone.
[00:21:37] There are
[00:21:38] companies out
[00:21:39] there that
[00:21:40] make nothing
[00:21:40] but clone
[00:21:41] trooper
[00:21:42] accessories
[00:21:42] because they
[00:21:44] feel they
[00:21:45] can produce
[00:21:46] better versions
[00:21:47] of clone
[00:21:48] trooper
[00:21:48] accessories
[00:21:49] than Lego
[00:21:50] can.
[00:21:51] This is
[00:21:52] the kind
[00:21:53] of mindset
[00:21:53] you run
[00:21:54] into with
[00:21:55] the more
[00:21:55] entrepreneurial
[00:21:56] Lego
[00:21:58] hobbyists.
[00:22:01] Firestar
[00:22:02] Toys over
[00:22:02] in the UK
[00:22:03] releases a
[00:22:04] couple of
[00:22:05] custom
[00:22:05] minifigures
[00:22:06] a week,
[00:22:07] all for
[00:22:08] properties that
[00:22:09] Lego is
[00:22:10] already doing
[00:22:10] and they
[00:22:12] seem to
[00:22:13] release things
[00:22:13] like
[00:22:13] accessories
[00:22:14] and upgrade
[00:22:15] packs more
[00:22:16] often than
[00:22:17] they do
[00:22:17] the figures.
[00:22:19] Taking a
[00:22:20] look at
[00:22:20] Ghostbusters
[00:22:21] as an
[00:22:22] example,
[00:22:23] Firestar
[00:22:24] sells custom
[00:22:25] printed arms
[00:22:26] to upgrade
[00:22:27] the minifigures
[00:22:28] from the
[00:22:29] original
[00:22:29] Ecto-1
[00:22:30] Ideas set,
[00:22:32] custom
[00:22:32] figures of
[00:22:33] Walter
[00:22:33] Peck and
[00:22:34] Gozer the
[00:22:35] Gozerian,
[00:22:36] a custom
[00:22:37] printed
[00:22:38] minifigure
[00:22:38] scale copy
[00:22:39] of Tobin's
[00:22:40] spirit guide,
[00:22:43] custom
[00:22:44] personalizable
[00:22:45] Ghostbuster
[00:22:47] torsos,
[00:22:48] both male
[00:22:49] and female,
[00:22:51] 3D printed
[00:22:52] proton packs,
[00:22:54] and lots
[00:22:55] of other
[00:22:56] stuff,
[00:22:56] including a
[00:22:57] golden snack
[00:22:58] cake custom
[00:22:59] printed on
[00:23:00] a 1x2
[00:23:01] trans clear
[00:23:02] tile.
[00:23:04] So how
[00:23:05] long after
[00:23:06] the release
[00:23:07] of the
[00:23:07] Star Trek
[00:23:07] set,
[00:23:08] before they
[00:23:09] or companies
[00:23:10] like them
[00:23:11] start giving
[00:23:13] us better
[00:23:14] phasers,
[00:23:15] or the
[00:23:16] larger phaser
[00:23:17] rifles,
[00:23:19] Ferengi
[00:23:20] heads,
[00:23:21] Ferengi,
[00:23:23] Andorian,
[00:23:24] Tellarite,
[00:23:25] and so on,
[00:23:28] Borg.
[00:23:28] I want the
[00:23:32] opportunity to
[00:23:33] walk out of
[00:23:34] the vendors
[00:23:35] area of a
[00:23:36] Lego convention,
[00:23:37] flat broke,
[00:23:39] but equipped
[00:23:40] with all the
[00:23:40] parts to fill
[00:23:42] out an entire
[00:23:43] multi-species
[00:23:44] starship crew.
[00:23:47] And, I also
[00:23:48] want more
[00:23:49] official Lego
[00:23:51] Star Trek
[00:23:51] sets.
[00:23:53] Maybe one a
[00:23:54] year,
[00:23:54] maybe one
[00:23:55] every couple
[00:23:56] of years,
[00:23:57] maybe a
[00:23:58] winning lottery
[00:23:59] ticket so that
[00:23:59] I can afford
[00:24:00] to actually
[00:24:00] buy them.
[00:24:02] Other ships
[00:24:03] complete with
[00:24:04] minifigures of
[00:24:05] other crews,
[00:24:08] Pike's
[00:24:08] Enterprise
[00:24:09] from Strange
[00:24:10] New Worlds,
[00:24:11] Kirk's from
[00:24:12] Classic Trek
[00:24:13] and or the
[00:24:14] first six and a
[00:24:15] half Star Trek
[00:24:15] movies,
[00:24:16] or Kirk's
[00:24:18] Enterprise from
[00:24:18] the J.J.
[00:24:19] Abrams Kelvin
[00:24:20] timeline movies,
[00:24:22] Discovery from
[00:24:25] Discovery,
[00:24:27] The Cerritos
[00:24:28] from Lower
[00:24:29] Decks,
[00:24:30] The Defiant
[00:24:31] from Deep
[00:24:31] Space Nine,
[00:24:32] and while
[00:24:34] you're at it,
[00:24:35] Deep Space
[00:24:35] Nine itself.
[00:24:38] I also
[00:24:39] really want
[00:24:39] things like
[00:24:40] The Bridge
[00:24:41] and Sick
[00:24:42] Bay and
[00:24:43] the Transporter
[00:24:44] Room,
[00:24:44] but once
[00:24:45] I've got
[00:24:46] the minifigures
[00:24:47] to populate
[00:24:48] those areas,
[00:24:49] I can build
[00:24:50] those myself
[00:24:51] as mocks.
[00:24:53] I want
[00:24:55] to bold
[00:24:55] Lego where
[00:24:56] no one has
[00:24:57] gone before.
[00:24:59] Please,
[00:25:01] please,
[00:25:02] please,
[00:25:03] please,
[00:25:04] don't
[00:25:05] just
[00:25:06] be
[00:25:07] a rumor.
[00:25:10] Okay,
[00:25:12] shorter than
[00:25:13] usual episode
[00:25:14] this week.
[00:25:16] Next week's
[00:25:17] episode will
[00:25:18] be the one
[00:25:19] that I said
[00:25:20] this week's
[00:25:21] episode would
[00:25:21] be last
[00:25:23] week.
[00:25:24] That's not a
[00:25:25] confusing sentence,
[00:25:26] is it?
[00:25:27] Okay,
[00:25:29] next week,
[00:25:30] the story of
[00:25:31] The Metal
[00:25:32] Beard
[00:25:32] Experience.

[00:25:45] is a link

[00:25:46] Flickr page
[00:25:47] where I've
[00:25:48] recently been

[00:25:50] brickhead mocks,
[00:25:52] mostly
[00:25:53] original
[00:25:54] Star Trek
[00:25:54] characters,
[00:25:55] and the team
[00:25:56] from the

[00:25:58] Commandos

[00:25:59] and more
[00:26:00] will follow.

[00:26:08] We love
[00:26:09] word of mouth.
[00:26:11] And,
[00:26:12] as always,
[00:26:14] if you just
[00:26:15] don't like the
[00:26:16] podcast,
[00:26:16] well,

[00:26:22] The podcast's
[00:26:23] intro and
[00:26:24] outro themes,
[00:26:25] Podcasting is
[00:26:26] Awesome,
[00:26:26] inspired by
[00:26:27] Tegan and
[00:26:27] Sarah's
[00:26:28] Everything is
[00:26:28] Awesome,
[00:26:29] An Ode
[00:26:30] to Gibberish,
[00:26:31] were created
[00:26:31] by Michael
[00:26:32] Reich.
[00:26:36] I think I
[00:26:37] just closed
[00:26:38] Pandora's box
[00:26:39] and I
[00:26:40] want to know
[00:26:40] if you
[00:26:41] can punch
[00:26:42] a sucker
[00:26:43] how else
[00:26:43] would you
[00:26:44] know
[00:26:44] that I've
[00:26:45] done
[00:26:45] everything
[00:26:46] except
[00:26:46] any of
[00:26:47] it.
[00:26:48] You can
[00:26:49] have your
[00:26:50] bald eagle
[00:26:50] afraid of
[00:26:51] fire
[00:26:52] and you
[00:26:52] can eat
[00:26:53] it too
[00:26:53] and there
[00:26:54] could be
[00:26:54] so much
[00:26:55] joy
[00:26:55] and I
[00:26:56] want
[00:26:56] my
[00:26:57] libido
[00:26:57] well
[00:26:57] how else
[00:26:58] I mean
[00:26:59] wish me
[00:27:00] luck
[00:27:01] on the
[00:27:01] prayers
[00:27:02] for junk
[00:27:03] food
[00:27:03] I
[00:27:04] I
[00:27:04] I
[00:27:04] can't
